My friends in Now in Stereo were releasing their first tape, and approached me for a cassette design. I didn’t have much to go off of other than the title: Nothing Nice To Say. This spoke to me, and I thought it would be interesting to take a surreal approach to the artwork. The subject appears to be preoccupied with texting on her phone. To contrast this antisocial action, I wanted to display that the world outside of one’s phone is ever-changing, and doesn’t stop. To present this technological “dream land” of being sucked into a device, I thought it would be interesting to create the illusion of floating objects around the subject. The photography and propping was done by me with fishing line hung to the track lighting in my old apartment.
